Following the resignation this morning of the UK Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, the EU has announced that it will postpone the EU Reset Summit which had only been booked in at the G7 last week, for 22nd July.
This is a likely sign that further concessions were yet to be demanded or required for the EU, and the EU believing that those concessions are not likely to be able to be made until a new Prime Minister is in place.
On the topic of the postponement the European Council president, António Costa, said: “For sure we need to postpone it, but we are reassessing the opportunity to hold this new summit. He went on to say that he wished that Starmer's successor would "give continuity on this path to reset our relationship with the UK."
