David Campbell Bannerman is a British Conservative politician and long-standing Eurosceptic. He served as Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the East of England from 2009 to 2019, initially with UKIP and later with the Conservatives.
Born in Bombay (Mumbai), India, he was educated at Bryanston School, the University of Edinburgh (MA Economics and Politics), and the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. A former Conservative councillor and Bow Group chairman, he joined UKIP in 2004, serving as Party Chairman and Deputy Leader (2006–2010). He defected back to the Conservatives in 2011.
He has held roles in groups such as Conservatives for Britain and Leave Means Leave, and currently chairs the Conservative Democratic Organisation and The Freedom Association. A distant relative of former Prime Minister Henry Campbell-Bannerman, he remains active in Eurosceptic and free-market advocacy.
