CBI: UK Businesses Against EU Customs Union

In an interview with the Financial Times published this morning, the Director-General of the Confederation of British Industry(CBI) has stated that British businesses as represented by the CBI are no longer yearning for re-entry to the EU and its Customs Union - and in fact would be against such a move.

“Businesses aren’t looking to relitigate the referendum. None of the business leaders I speak to want to reopen that debate” she states, when asked by the FT whether or not CBI members agree with the calls from a subset of the political debate to rejoin aspects of the EU. She went to say that “five years ago, businesses would have supported joining the customs union. But the reality is the world has changed.
