Queues and Delays at Dover
As has become a seasonal pastime for UK news reporters, the journey down to Dover to see the clogged roads full of cars heading across the channel is as much a part of British culture now as the King's Speech on Christmas Day. However the collective amnesia of those who wish to rejoin the EU, in remembering this happened every year before we voted to leave the EU, is getting a reprieve this year as the rollout of the EUs Entry and Exit System (EES) has caused significant delays across Europe - and the terminals on the English Channel are no different in this regard.
The French Government had already suspended most of the additional checks having had significant issues with the rollout already, but on Saturday had to suspend even the pared back additional checks due to the impact on travellers.

US/Iran Peace Deal Discussions
With reports that a new agreement on a ceasefire and reopening of the Strait of Hormuz being close to complete, the British Government may get lucky and see a reprieve from any real tests of the UKs emergency measures, and the need to use the caveat in Russian sanctions to secure additional jet fuel. Both would be a lucky escape for the UK Government if achieved.
Labour Leadership and EU Relations
The Labour leadership debate has given space to relitigate the UKs relationship with the EU, with many column inches having been utilised over the weekend on the different angles of the debate. However the team here at Britain Unbound have noticed the argument shift over to the likely terms of EU membership, which we appreciate as the debate has been lacking in that regard up to now.
