The Guardian are today reporting that the EU Reset negotiations are at somewhat of a stalemate, due to the UK unwillingness to accept unlimited youth mobility from the EU, along with not wanting to include domestic pricing for EU students in UK universities.
The Labour government seem to be hoping that the British public conveniently forget that they were against youth mobility at all in the early stages of the negotiations in 2024, but the EU demanded it as a non-negotiable requirement for the EU Reset to proceed at all, so now the government try to pretend that it is a good thing that they wanted all along.
According to The Guardian, the UK has been pitching a limit of 50-70,000 EU students using the youth mobility scheme a year, but as stated the EU wants this to be unlimited. The UK are apparently also trying to ignore the EUs demands for domestic pricing for EU students, as this was not in the original scope of the EU Reset negotiations.
As this government has a track record of conceding to EU demands, the Britain Unbound team have little doubt that the EUs demands will end up being exactly what is implemented, and again that the British public will be sold that it was the UKs idea all along.
